Review of Friday the 13th (1980) by Jjarocki — 24 Mar 2020
Friday The 13th may have the staying power and the franchise backing behind, but this first film lacks some of the more interesting aspects of the later entries. Where the film shines is the score and the look of the film, both of which work really well to set up the tension as our characters get picked off one by one.
Unfortunately, the acting and writing of said characters means we don't care as much when they get picked off. That being said, Betsy Palmer gives a good performance as Mrs. Voorhees.
