Review of Frida (2002) by Leighton T — 31 Jul 2008
Kudos to Julie Taymor pulling off such a risky, direct, high profile cast adaptation of the life of this very important woman. I went into watching this knowing very little about the Frida and yet, watching Hayek, I just knew she had hit her dead on.
The rest of the cast is eclectic, but strong, and to see the struggles this woman went through throughout her life, makes any of our complains pale in comparison. It's not your typical biographical film, and that's exactly why I like it.
