Review of Frequency (2000) by Critic M — 23 May 2013
The main concept of communicating through time via ham radio is fantastic and I really enjoyed it. The first few communications between father and son were magical to say the least. After that the film got way too wrapped up in the crime caper involving the Nightingale murderer.
The plot was far too busy and convoluted in the last quarter. It should not have strayed so far away from it's time traversing roots. My personal opinion is that there was a bit too much hardy boy crime solving going on and not enough focus on the time travel/portal aspect.
I also didn't buy that Jim Caviezel was related to Dennis Quaid. There was a lot of potential in this one. I did enjoy it, but the last half got a bit too disjointed for my taste. A few very emotional scenes and intriguing concepts are in "Frequency" although the ending proves that.
....well the writers were just all over the place. Not bad, but not great.
