Review of Freedomland (2006) by Bill G — 02 May 2008
Lackluster adaptation of the brilliant novel by Richard Price. The project was doomed the second it was entrusted to ex-studio head turned wannabe filmmaker Joe Roth (whose resume already included the botched farce America's Sweethearts and the dismal holiday fodder Christmas with the Kranks).
But, to be fair, it would be virtually impossible to condense Price's complex and richly layered narrative into a two-hour frame.
