Review of Freedomland (2006) by Daniel B — 15 Feb 2010
Synopsis: Woman claims she was carjacked and her baby was in the car. Cops begin investigation trying to find the child. They shut down the projects where the jacking takes place, bringing racial tensions to a breaking point.
PROS.
John Forsythe.
Samuel L. Jackson.
CONS.
Julianne Moore.
FINAL ANALYSIS: Samuel L. Jackson isn't too wildly over-the-top here but he also can't save this movie. It is trite and repetitive and never titular enough to draw you into the story. It is cool to see John Forsythe, a favorite B-List actor of mine, in an "A" flick.
SPOILER ALERT: Julianne Moore apparently annoyed her child to death with a very hammy performance.
No Reason to Rent this Unless You Have a Samuel L. Jackson Fetish.
