Review of Freedom Writers (2007) by Elin G — 06 Nov 2011
This movie has it all on paper. A true story about kids with an attitude who gets a teacher that believe in them and help them change their lives. On top of that starring Hillary Swank. I'm a sucker for this kind of stories, they make me want to live my dream of being a teacher, and this movie is doing a good job.
The scrip is working, the atmoshpere is right and the young actors are carrying their roles. But it's not the best film I have seen this year in any way. Over all I was satisfied, but not overwhelmed.
Quick edit, I liked it better upon rewatching it. There are some really great things done with music here, some great montages and such, and the dialouge usually rings true, but I think they sometimes took it one step to far.
That is why it didn't hit me completely.
