Even being up against the unthinkable influenced of violence, first upcoming teacher Erin Gruwell never give up on her students' into making them realize that they can change. Slowly she bonds with her students that seem to be unreachable to a point of not caring.
Erin, breaks their tough act and sees with underneath the mask they hided of to protect them from the harsh reality of the truth they face everyday. Erin gives them journal to keep and share or just write about their problem inside.
When they shared their stories with each other they start to see that they all had something in common with their experiences in their daily life, for this very reason they started to open up with each other the idea that there is something else possibility that life outside can offer than being able to reach the age of eighteen.
