Brilliant within the teacher as dedicated rescuer genre, which may have begun with the original Goodbye Mr. Chips & includes Stand By Me. This film updates level of social dysfunction, adds CA diversity & personal tragedy & heroism, but overplays the Jewish angle when these kids are victims of their own historic racial & ethnic holocausts.
