Review of Freedom Writers (2007) by Christina V — 27 Nov 2012
This film, for all its good intentions, feels too cliched to deliver the impact it aspires to. As much as the protagonist and her students experience a mutual education, I felt as though I was being preached to, and, whilst the message is good, the way in which it's delivered is unsubtle, formulaic and at times patronising.
For something with a similar theme but arguably superior portrayal, I suggest watching the 4th season of The Wire.
