Review of Free State of Jones (2016) by Chris K — 03 Jul 2016

This movie tied in two very interesting historical stories. Both happened to the same family and both focused on fascinating elements of our nation's history. The acting is good and the action is realistic, both in its presentation and the duration.

The fact that the movie had the balls to just tell a story and not get stuck in the rut of pushing in as much action and gore as possible is commendable. The inclusion of the flash forwards was off-putting at first, but I think that's because I didn't catch the fact that the two characters in each story line were related until the second flash forward.
