The story about Newt Knight is very interesting, however the movie tries to cover so much. It's a nice historical film and really shows how southern states tried to get around anti-slavery laws. McConaughey was not bad at all.
It almost seemed like it could have been a documentary than a regular historical film. Slow at points, but interesting.
