Review of Free State of Jones (2016) by Kurt S — 06 Jul 2016
Great movie! Turns out there is something for the South to be proud of during the Civil War. A man that didn't have slaves, like most families in the South. stood up and said he would not give his life to make the cotton plantation owners even richer than they already were. Small farmers.
And craftsmen that didn't own slaves had no real reason to die for the cotton plantations, but we're cowed into doing so, like in most wars. They were also robbed of their crops by the Confederate Army, to add insult to injury. Interestingly enough the Union did very little to support the Free State of Jones.
Newt Jones stood strong and independently, against great odds, for what he knew was fair and right. We should all be so lucky to live such an honorable life. In a Free State.
It's all about the Freedom.
