Review of Free in Deed (2017) by Gladdie57 — 26 Jun 2016
Historically accurate movie that really makes you question what you were taught in school about the civil war. Wonderful performances by all the leads and beautiful cinematography that takes you back to what it must have been like in the south.
Very realistic fight battle scenes that do not glamorize war at all but make it very scary and real. A story I had never heard of before but loved seeing for the first time. Made me feel good that someone back then felt sympathy for mankind no matter what their color.
I was also surprised about the Reconstruction era that followed the war and how the rich plantation owners were allowed to try to go back to business as usual.
