Review of Free Fire (2017) by Doug P — 20 Apr 2017
Well, this is one exhilarating film Ben Wheatley directed. Free Fire is about a bunch meet up in a Boston warehouse for an arms deal which turned into a standoff between everybody.
It's a film that looks like it's taken place in the time of the 70s/80s if you see how every character is dressed. You will probably get more of that Sharlto Copley accent than anything out of the other characters.
The words and the dispute connect together very well. You get every angle of everybody with their guns. You don't have to wait to see what goes on next in the middle of talking because everybody is in the middle of a shootout throughout the entire film!
The camera works are the most defining tools of the movie. Ben Wheatley knows how to make everybody's role falls together.
Free Fire may left you thinking about how this situation escalated but it is a fun movie you can sit through without waiting for the action on the next scene.
