Review of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991) by Brett H — 13 Oct 2015

Easily the worst sequel in the franchise, Freddy's Dead is so bereft of ideas that they wrote some BS story about Freddy having a wayward daughter who will be the one to restore his power and I'm just sitting there thinking, "why isn't this over yet?" Not even Robert Englund could make this film enjoyable for me as his kills are stupid, and he sounds bored at this point; the only entertaining moment being a spoof he does on The Wizard of Oz.

The new characters suck, with no explanation as to what happened to Alice after the previous film and we're just supposed to care about their survival; Breckin Meyer plays one of the teens in his first big-screen role.

There are some bizarre cameo appearances from Tom Arnold and Roseanne Barr in one scene, and even Johnny Depp returns after his debut appearance in the first film for all of 10 seconds that left me scratching my head.

This really is an awful film that only gets slightly better near the end when things actually start happening, but it was too painful to sit through to recommend to anyone and puts a lame cap on the series.
