Review of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991) by Bryan M — 30 Apr 2010
Having re-watched this recently, I realized that I had been too kind to this movie years ago. I gave it credit for trying to give Freddy a little dimension by showing us a bit of his past, but the movie never says anything interesting about any of that.
The most amusing scene is the video game nightmare that a stoned teenager has the misfortune of experiencing. The most gratuitous scene is the one where Freddy torments a hearing impaired boy. In between those we get boring banter between characters, way too many jokes from Freddy and no suspense.
The ending sequence was originally in 3-D, but there's no indication that it would much improve the movie. This was to be the final installment, but like any modern day horror villain, Freddy Krueger would return again to haunt the cineplex.
