Review of Freddy vs. Jason (2003) by Jim W — 28 Sep 2010
I actually never knew Wes Craven wrote the script. For someone that thought the Freddy sequels "that he didn't do" sucked, this movie is really goofy. He did come up with a cool idea of how to bring Freddy and Jason together though. Jason is killing teens in Elm Street which is giving Freddy strength to return since everyone thinks it's him doing it and he needs people to remember him in order to return.
So Craven had some good ideas and the fights between Freddy and Jason were well done. The movie would have benefited from Craven directing the film though. Freddy vs Jason is more funny than it is scary and what do you expect when it's from the director of Bride of Chucky. Still, I always found the film to be a guilty pleasure.
