Review of FRED: The Movie (2010) by Colby F — 26 Jan 2011
Actually funny, funnier than any previous "Fred" internet video, and overall a well-paced movie, one that feels like a movie and not just a stretched out Youtube gimmick. It has a cool indie vibe to it, and the humor/comedy maintains a constant rate - I laughed through the entire movie.
But perhaps the most surprising aspect of the film is how much you'll fall in love with Lucas Cruikshank's character, Fred; when he has a back-story, a family, and a purpose, you'll be surprised at how close you feel to him, and your heart will hurt when he faces the challenges of fitting in with his peers, something we all have experience with.
This is the new Napoleon Dynamite, and the most fun I've had watching a comedy in some time. (Also stars Jennette McCurdy from "iCarly", Oscar Nunez from "The Office" and Stephanie Courtney from the Progressive commercials).
