Review of Frantic (1988) by Stephen M — 19 Mar 2009
Maybe this is a guilty pleasure I'm not sure. I'm a sucker for any "American in Paris" film or really any French set picture. What Polanski effectively does here is transforming a very typical thriller script into a fun Hitchcock exercise in mcguffin exchanging and roof hopping.
And I LOVED the music! Especially as the opening credits fly out towards the screen while Ford's car zooms down the highway. Or when Grace Jones' Libertango plays the minute they walk into an exotic dance club. I'm a bit of an 80s nut, too. This movie rocks.
