Review of Frank (2014) by Olli G — 19 Dec 2015
Odd, charming and slightly disturbing, 'Frank' somehow manages to be both thoughtfully introspective and and outwardly weird. The off-beat. sung poetry and the accompanying music is fittingly different and sometimes jarring but the snippets of mundane music, more often than not provided by our protagonist John, feel even more out of place.
Fassbender's performance is physical and tender whilst the ensemble bounce off him wonderfully. The slightly predictable ending brought the film down a little but the themes and situations it posed had me thinking long after the film ended.
