Review of Frank (2014) by Pierluigi P — 20 Sep 2014
A sort of odd tragicomedy that begins in a high, hilarious note and halfway through shifts into melancholy, with a genuinely baffling effect. I was reminded of "Harold and Maude" as the pinnacle of well balanced wacky pop high-on-life humour and dark twisted fantasy, but Frank leant itself towards one way at first and lastly to the other, not so subtly.
Nevertheless, moments as Jon's futile attempts at songwriting, Frank's creative process and his "sell out" (most likeable song) are magical flashes within this enjoyable film.
