Review of Frances Ha (2013) by Steve J — 18 Jun 2013
Greta Gerwig is great in it and Noah Baumbach has made a film that I feel reaches to people that have been in this situation before, and that's a lot of people. And he manages to make it feel extremely real while maintaining a quirky vision that's completely different than any of his other work stylistically.
While it seems to lack the emotional depth his other films do have like "The Squid and the Whale" or "Greenberg," it works well as a lighthearted comedy that finds a great balance of harsh realism and comic tone.
