I like this more than squid and the whale by fairly wide margin but that's also the only other baumbach i've seen. I haven't seen enough truffaut to compare this to truffaut. great performance(s) esp from gerwig and very wayward storytelling without flaunting itself too much.

visually reminds me a bit of manhattan, I really don't think black and white is a very flattering color palette for new york, like this movie made the city look like a garbage dump. doesn't speak to me on a personal level but I still liked it very much.
