Review of Frances Ha (2013) by Jimmy H — 12 Jan 2014
Ahh, Frances Halladay, so un-dateable. She's quirky, the very opposite of self-conscious, she's young and lost, but she somehow makes it all work (I guess). Living in New York (at one point) and being even younger than her, I can definitely identify with her. I honestly forgot I was watching a black and white film some minutes into it which I think has a lot to say about the modern style of filmmaking compared to the classic era, more than anything else.
Francs Ha is a great film about friendship, living in an adult world, ambition and all that other good stuff. It's a character study that's not too serious, but presents some serious truths.
