Review of Foxy Brown (1974) by Daniel W — 14 May 2009
Sexy Pam Grier goes undercover as a prostitute in the high-priced call-girl-ring run by the smack-peddling syndicate that murdered her boyfriend. She's mad, and there's a whole lot of vengeance coming their way!
What would "Foxy Brown" be without Pam Grier? Not nearly as much fun, I'd imagine. The acting is sub-par, the lighting and sets are all kinds of Seventies-ugly, and there's a scene in a shack with a couple of old hillbilly's that dives too far into gut-churning unpleasantness. But in all, "Foxy Brown" is revenge served with an entertaining sense for the outrageous, helped in no small part by Grier herself.
Also, Antonio Fargas (Huggy Bear in the old Starsky & Hutch TV show), plays Pam's weasel-faced, screw-up brother.
