Review of Four Rooms (1995) by Tony P — 03 Aug 2008
I find Tim Roth to be irritating as fuck in this movie. I have mad respect for the guy, but his spastic movement and twitchy expressions are far too much for the camera. It's especially frustrating in the first two shorts because they lack filmmaking good enough to cover for Roth's hysterics.
In the third round, however, Robert Rodriguez saves the day, which takes a lot of talent to do after forty minutes of torture. Then Tarantino brings it home with a lengthy, masturbatory, but ultimately brilliant finale.
I pretty much see this another Tarantino/Rodriguez collaboration even though there were two other filmmakers involved. Half good, half not, cameos galore. Worth checking out.
