Review of Forrest Gump (1994) by Donald W — 21 Dec 2014
This is Tom Hanks' best movie. He played a character that has become iconic. Just as the Fonz is cool, Forrest Gump is stupid. But he is lovably stupid. The special feature of this movie is the way they used stock footage to slip Forrest Gump into every important event of the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's and 1980's.
Anyone who lived through these years will enjoy this movie. If you were born after 1990 you might not get it. I can't remember the first time I saw this movie but they reran it on TV several times.
I remember watching it with my parents at my aunt and uncle's house one Thanksgiving. They liked it too. The years covered in this movie were the years of their entire adult live. For me it was mostly childhood memories.
There are so many good quotes in this movie you can't pick one as the best.
