Review of Forrest Gump (1994) by Adam S — 07 Nov 2013
Forrest Gump is a name that everyone recognizes since Tom Hanks took on the character and catapulted him to a cultural phenomenon. He's the sort of inspirational character with that simple message - be kind, good and true.
This is a sweet movie that doesn't hesitate to include some darker aspects of life.
Hanks is superb in this one, as are supporting actors such as Robin Wright, Gary Sinise and Sally Field, and while the Best Picture catergory could have gone to "The Shawshank Redemption" or "Pulp Fiction" over Gump quite easily in a tough year, I certainly wouldn't begrudge this film of it's win.
It is a classic film.
