Review of Forrest Gump (1994) by Dan H — 15 Mar 2015
A highly emotional and touching film about an extraordinary man and his extraordinary life. The heart and soul of this film is Hanks as Gump. He disappears into his role, and this is probably my favorite performance of his.
He fills his role with neat little touches and nuances that do not go unappreciated. There are some early moments that are easy to make fun of, and the film does run a little bit too long (and the ending is pretty downbeat, but hopeful still), but despite the few minor complaints I have Forest Gump is still a beautiful, touching masterpiece that's got a fantastic story, real emotional and touching moments, and a superb and unforgettable performance from its lead.
Fores Gump is easily one of my personal favorite films,.
