I LOATHE this huge piece of "moral" gobbledegoop (read:shit)! As for the "special effects"...this device was used LONG before GUMP to great effect in a MUCH, MUCH better film by Woody Allen called ZELIG.
Of course Mr Hanks won an Oscar for his one note performance. (Yes, Hanks success as an actor is a bit of a mystery to me..I think he works best in light romantic comedies. However, I find him rather bland, dull and shallow when it comes to "meatier" material.
..I know ..this makes me UnAmerican...so shoot me!). Poor Robin Wright's character gets punished and punished and punished and then punished some more...bad girl, bad girl! This box of chocolates gives me the trots!
