Review of Foreign Correspondent (1940) by Michael M — 03 Sep 2013
A smart, funny, and at times romantic thriller. What added to the suspense when this movie was released was how the pre-WW2 references were so accurate to what was actually happening while the movie was being filmed. This film is great for many reasons, but you probably haven't heard of it because it is overshadowed by Hitchcock's later works. Still, a great film with great storytelling, dialogue, set construction, special effects, editing, and above all, directing.
P.S. Hitchcock plays the gentleman reading the newspaper when Johnny Jones first sees Van Meer entering a cab...
