Review of Ford v Ferrari (2019) by Derekreide — 15 Nov 2019

An excellent, adrenaline-rushing, funny, and beautiful film. Believe the critics this time around. This is pure cinema Hollywood at its best! Christian Bale gives yet another incredible performance as Ken Miles and gives the near-perfect act for an Oscar nomination.

All the other roles played by Matt Damon, Jon Bernthal, Tracy Letts, and Josh Lucas all are stellar. One gripe I do have with the film, however, is the slightly slower-paced sequences in non-racing areas.

I think the film dragged rather than raced in those portions. But when the film raced, literally, my heart was pumping and I was nearly sweating out of exhaustion! James Mangold gives possibly a Best Director nomination-worthy job, period.

All in all, this is an A-tier, one of the best 2019 movies, and an instant classic for me.
