Review of Forbidden Planet (1956) by Alex K — 15 May 2010
Unlike The Tempest, this is actually good. The film is actually quite entertaining. While the script consists of little more than scientific babble, I found myself engaged the whole time. The effects were also quite well done, especially considering the time period.
I would go so far as to call some effects downright impressive. While it's no sci-fi masterpiece, it's an excellent piece of pulp science fiction, and perfectly captures the essence of the 1950s.
