Review of Forbidden games (2015) by Joe L — 19 Sep 2009
Another film boasting perhaps the greatest child performances in cinema history. completely unsentimental, it shows how two children deal with war, following an opening sequence that is among the most harrowing i've seen.
it shows how innocence can persist in the face of horror. it is a film about childhood, for adults, challenging us to remember the truth of how we viewed the world, how we came to understand death, friendship, family, and religion.
it falls into a rare class of films that receive my highest recommendation, but touched a place so personal that i'm not sure I can endure watching it again.
