Review of For Your Eyes Only (1981) by Andy S — 23 Jan 2010
This was an effort for Bond to have a leeeeeeettle bit fewer gadgets than other movies. "Octopussy" was really more streamlined, but this was probably my favorite Bond of all the 70's/80's. The superficial perks: Great car (Lotus Esprit? Anyhow from last movie and it gets blown up in the first half hour), to be replaced by junky clown car but fun car chase in that. Carole Bouquet was a great model doing her acting gig (lots better than others we've been subjected to), and her dark vengeful character is really more fun than some helpless tagalong.
Some camp, some ski-chases, some dorky droll jokes, and an amazing final set location. I'ma put my VHS back up to watch this now.
