Review of For Your Eyes Only (1981) by Mark G — 02 Apr 2009
I like it, its quite raw in places and doesn't have the flash that spoiled a lot of Moonraker, for once the camp excess's were reined in, the cliff top scene where he pushes the car over is really quite brutal for Moore's Bond. And only the score makes it feel dated. More of a return to old school thriller and definitely one of the best of the 80's entries which varied in quality over the next ten years as the Bond franchise tried to find it's feet in a world that was rapidly changing from the kiss kiss bang bang of its heyday in the 1960's.
Topol, Carole Bouquet, and Roger all give sterling performances.
