Review of For Those in Peril (2013) by Mikael H — 28 Jul 2013
For Those In Peril feels like two different films clumsily stitched together and what results is confusion and an ineffectual resolution. One side of the film promises an honest and melancholic tale about grief and alienation in a town ruled by the sea and somewhere along the line, without forewarning, it turns into a 'nightmarish' vision of severe delusion and mental illness with supernatural elements.
Split the two films apart and I would happily watch either one of them but it made for a very uneven and overly-ambitious feature.
