Review of For the Bible Tells Me So (2007) by Ricardo H — 17 Apr 2008
GOOD SUBJECT MATTER, AVERAGE DELIVERY.
Being a gay man, I wholeheartedly believe in the subject matter or this documentary. However, just because I believe in the subject does not mean that I cannot see the flaws in the execution of the presentation. It starts with an amazing opening, but from there, at first it is hard to follow, cutting from one family to another and then to the results of the situation for each family. I think the parts that I enjoyed the most were when Bishop Desmond Tutu spoke. There is a calmness and wisdom to his words that don't need to be backed up by cameras, big stages, screaming, tears and hair pulling, and of course, the little tray collecting money.
It's worth watching for sure, but not the best I've seen.
