I never get choked up when watching movies...Ever. However, this film always brings me close. Odd, I know, since it's a sports film...but this movie just gets me wholly immersed into the storyline.
It has the perfect mixture of elements. It's not overly sappy, it's not cheesy, there isn't anyone annoying in it. Instead of describing what it's not, it's probably better to define what it is.
Thought-provoking, inspriational, and gut-wrenchingly painful all rolled into one film. I feel it's one of the few "modern" great films.
