Review of For Colored Girls (2010) by Talltam — 07 Nov 2010
This is an Awesome, Powerful movie. The actresses delivered each woman's story in a moving way so that it was possible to relate to each and every character. I loved the age diversity of the cast so that, as a colored girl, if you couldn't identify with one or more of the cast yourself, 9 times out of 10, you know of a family member or friend who has been through, or is going through at least one of the situations.
I think that alone is what makes this movie so powerful for colored girls. I love how all of their stories were some how intertwined (similar to real life). I couldn't get enough of these girls. I didn't want the movie to end.
I just loved it! I've never seen the play to compare it to the movie, but the movie alone gets 10 out of 10 from me and I would love to see the play now. All in all, "For Colored Girls" is a Colorful, Smart, Moving, and Captivating movie that every colored girl can relate to.
