Review of For a Few Dollars More (1965) by Bob I — 24 Aug 2008
Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy is interesting in that each movie seems to attempt to build upon what its predecessor attempted. Actors are re-used and story scenarios are retold. It seems with this movie Leone beefed up and eliminated Fistful's shortcomings.
Van Cleef provides an engaging foil to Eastwood's aloof badass. And the underrated Volonte takes what he did with the forgettable Ramone in Fistful, and transforms it into the classic villain of Indio.
A fantastic western. A possible weakness is a somewhat disjointed middle third of the film.
