Review of For a Few Dollars More (1965) by Sam L — 06 Jul 2010
Pure movie perfection. This is what happens when the director, actors, and composer are all amazing. Manco, Col. Mortimer, and El Indio (possibly ne of the nastiest, most despicable villains in history; yet you still cant help but feel sorry for him) are three unforgettable, origional characters.
While Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef both give classic performances, Gian Maria Volonte gives the best performance of the film as El Indio (as Volonte was a generally shakesperian, romantic actor). Not only does Sergio Leone, possibly the best director ever, outdo himself again, but Ennio Morricone, arguably the best composer ever, gives a hauntingly beautiful, goosebump inducing score.
This is my personal favorite of all the spaghetti westerns.
