Review of For a Few Dollars More (1965) by John R — 07 Jun 2013
Deeper and richer than A Fistful, this is a significant upgrade in almost every way. The direction is tighter and more focused, while utilizing the now famous but then fresh framing techniques that Leone is known by.
Similarly to A Fistful, the faces tell the story here, and they don't come much more striking than Van Cleef and Eastwood who own every inch of the screen when they appear. And the music? Ennio Morricone brings the unorthodox and funky sounding, but also the grandiose and the classical, and well none do it better.
Anyone who wants to say they are a western fan needs this in their life.
