Review of Footloose (1984) by Gregg D — 28 Mar 2010
Footloose has a great soundtrack which consists mainly of pop/rock from the 80's and this movie will definitely get you up and dancing in no time. However in this small town of Bomont there's no rock music or dancing allowed as ordained by John Lithgow as Rev. Shaw Moore, a tyrannical preacher who passed the law after a group of kids were killed in a car accident after a night out of dancing and drinking.
So when city kid Kevin Bacon moves there he naturally rebels and attempts to change the town's prejudices and beliefs. Along the way he is helped by new friend Christopher Penn and the pastor's rebellious daughter Lori Singer. The main high-school characters are all very likable and we sympathize with their "oppression". I found it a lot of fun to watch.
