Review of Footloose (1984) by Lauren D — 11 Sep 2010
Your usual 80s Chase-the-Dream flick, and as such, a fair enough way to waste some time; we get the hero who wins the day with the power of self-belief, complete with the appropriate montages and soundtrack.
Not quite up to others of its ilk, this flick's main distinction has to be the sympathetic and (for a film of this ilk) complex antagonist, played by 3rd Rock's John Lithgow. That and that soundtrack! Look out for Chris Penn and Sarah Jessica Parker as the Beta Couple in the obligatory young love subplot.
Remember kids: Heaven helps the man who fights his feeeaaarrrr....
