Review of Food Matters (2010) by Laura L — 01 Feb 2011
Takes a distinctly different approach from other documentaries on the food industry, focusing specifically on human health. Of course, it's nothing that hasn't been said many times before - pharmaceutical corporations produce drugs with a primary goal of profit in mind, and both them and major food corporations don't care much about your health.
So the research on what actually works to get you off those things - both the unhealthy food and drugs - has been deliberately buried. No big surprise, but a lot more useful information packed into this documentary.
It loses a star for shrugging off veganism and vegetarianism at the end, leaving me with the impression that the interviewees view human health as the bottom line, rather than a system in which no creature is unnecessarily killed or harmed.
