Review of Following (1999) by Aidan H — 13 May 2010
In this moderately compelling tale of burglary and conspiracy Nolan shows a hint of what was to come and, apart from some mis-firing thespianiam, it's still not a bad effort from the man who went on to make Momento and Batman Begins.
Despite its humble budget (and other restrictions), Following feels like a feature, the dialogue rings almost true and there are some nice flourishes (a moodily-lit sequence when the main character robs a safe and sticks the money to his body with tape).
A little more mood would have made it more enjoyable but not a bad first effort.
