Review of Following (1999) by Troy K — 07 Feb 2015
Christopher Nolan's debut is much like how other indie directors started, filming on weekends in their spare time when they could. The result is a competent and twisty look at voyeurism and curiousity, but still feels stilted with that film school vibe that comes off in some scenes.
I could say I saw the style and incredibleness that would later be seen in future Nolan films, but I'd be lying. This is simply a competent low budget thriller and nothing more.
