You Have to Focus When You Watch Focus.
"Focus" is an amusing rapid film that could be enjoyed by attentive people. A community that enjoys what is the manipulation of the eye will love this movie. Reading the cast and members of production you could tell this movie was leading up to be this type of film since the name Apollo Robbins appeared in the credits.
For those who may not know Apollo Robbins is a famous conjurer who considers himself as a specialist in deception and calls himself the white-gloved thief. Robbins is a talented being and he is skillful in several arts. Among his peers, he is widely considered to be the best in the world in what he does, which is to remove objects from other people, such as watches, wallets, mobiles or personal items, using a psychological method.
The skills Nicky Spurgeon possesses are similar to what is in the field of knowledge of Apollo Robbins. Nicky is played by famous actor Will Smith who brings life to this manipulative, dedicated and brilliant criminal. He exceeds expectations as this mysterious easy to relate to character. He first appears inside a scheme trying to be pulled on him by his later partner Jess Barret.
Jess Barret is played by known actress Margot Robbie. Margot Robbie plays a criminal in training who during the movie is in the process of character building, later in the movie her attitude can be appreciated. This duo of Margot and Will has good chemistry as we can see them collaborate in other famous movies such a "Suicide Squad".
In this particular movie their encounters are fulfilling and of much pleasure for the audience. Most times the feelings portrayed were easy to relate to. The emotion of the viewers, if they paid attention, were most of times anxious and nervous. At times laughs are shared and jokes are said.
There is a comedic relief in this movie and his name is Farhad. Farhad is a very enjoyable character he makes many funny remarks throughout the film. Farhad plays part of the con artists team. He is a computer genius who is very inappropriate when conversating. I loved Adrian Martinez as him, he has the perfect face for this uncommon and unsuitable words shown on screen. He helps with planning of most of the jobs. Other supporting characters are shown in most scene Farhad is presented in.
Other characters who constantly appear are Garriga and Owens. They are played by Rodrigo Santoro and Gerald McRaney. The appear in a job where they both get bamboozled by the protagonist. Garriga a strict race car driver and Owens is his assistant. The stunt that's pulled on them is the biggest job yet.
Garriga is this arrogant and uptight driver who hires Nicky for a job. They have their differences and get to entertaining disagreements. Rodrigo in this movie plays a very disliked role by the audience. He and Owens, his partner, are easy to hate. At the end of the movie many opinions could change, but I guess you have to watch the movie to find out.
One could never imagine the kind of money robbers make on a daily basis with simple tactics. The jobs in the movie are what make you want to keep seeing it. The level of creativity of this criminal is admirable and entertaining.
This fun movie is of most enjoyment if watched from the begging. People that watch streamed movies on television often catch the movie in the middle, but this eye-catching gem is not easy to watch if not from the beginning. The movie is gold that deserves to be treated with respect.
The acts portrayed in this movie are done with such elegancy it leads to uncanny reactions by some audience. Will and Margot fit this part very well and act the mischievous maneuvers like pros. You can appreciate the movie completely thanks to their acting, which one can notice took much training.
The movie is extremely interesting, it isn't an option to lose focus. Many manipulative acts take place and are shown in a fun way, they leave a spectator speechless. Few people in this world think, and even less have the audacity to act the way these characters do. It's enjoyable to even think a person could get away with this kind of behavior.
