Review of Flowers in the Attic (1987) by Amanda D — 29 Feb 2008
A young Kirsty Swanson is one of 4 children, who, after their father dies, must move into their grandparents. Their evil, super-strict, and abusive grandmother forces them to live locked up in a room, unknown to their grandfather, who doesnt even know they exist. The children soon become neglected, or perhaps forgotten.
The musical scores reflect the sadness within the film, of which isolation is the main theme. The plot and action also deals with contraversial subjects, such as abuse, child abuse,.
SPOILER.
Child death.
END SPOILER.
The children refer to gradmother as 'the grandmother', clearly not wanting anything to do with this uncaring and nasty character.
A tense movie recommendation.
